Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer lets you open PowerPoint presentations for free. If you have ever received a PPT file in an e-mail attachment and don't have PowerPoint installed, you know how hard it can be to open those files. PPT files are possibly the most popular e-mail attachment after photos. Now, with Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer, you can open those files and view every single presentation feature that the file contains. This is an important aspect of a file viewer. I have tried to open PPT files with other viewers before and experienced problems with certain effects or presentation features. That shouldn't be the case with this app, since it is made by Microsoft.
By default, Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer will assign itself the following file extensions: .ppt, .pptx, .pptm, .pot, .potx, .potm, .pps, .ppsx and .ppsm. But if you have PowerPoint installed, no extensions will be registered by the app.
I had no problems opening and viewing a presentation with this app. I opened a file somebody e-mailed me and I was surprised to see how fast the presentation was opened. I started the presentation by clicking on the space bar. Additionally, I could scroll through it using the mouse scroll button.
The graphical user interface for this app is pretty much non-existent. You only see the name of the opened file in the application bar and that is it. There isn't a single toolbar. I absolutely love the simplicity of viewing a presentation using this app. If you right click on the presentation, you will see a few options: Next, Previous, Copy, Print, Help, Full Screen and End Show.
